Beecher McGill, Sally Rundell.Age 80, of Seneca View Nursing in Montour Falls, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2016.She was born to Rodney S. and Elizabeth (Scott) Rundell of Elmira at the Scott Family home in Towanda, PA on August 21, 1935. Sally is survived by her sons, Scott Hendy Beecher and James Rundell Beecher, both in the Elmira area; sister, Barbara Rundell; nieces and nephews; and two stepdaughters, Amanda Beecher Eubanks and Pam Beecher. Sally was preceded in death by her first son, James Rexford Beecher III (March 5-7, 1967); her parents; her ex-husband, James Rexford Beecher Jr., Esq. of Elmira; and her second husband, Fred T. McGill of Hudson, FL. Sally was a 1953 graduate of Elmira Free Academy where she participated in many student activities, including the student newspaper and the senior play.She continued her love of singing and the theater with the Elmira Little Theater. Sally was the executive director of the Southern Tier Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society from the late 70s to mid 80s, where she brought the local chapter back from the previous director's scandal by partnering with other local agencies, business leaders and public figures to return direct patient care to the local chapter. Sally enjoyed retirement in Hudson, FL until illness brought her back to the Southern Tier in 2010. In her last years she was known as the songbird of the Falls Home and then Seneca View, willing to sing to help celebrate any event.A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 1:00 PM in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira. To celebrate her life, a reception immediately following will be at the Horseheads Moose Lodge, 416 W. Franklin St, Horseheads.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arctic League of Elmira, 249 W. Clinton St., Elmira, NY 14901. Arrangements have been entrusted to Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. of Elmira.
