Samuel Benjamin Lawson

January 7, 1947 — July 29, 2013

Samuel Benjamin Lawson age 66 went to be with the Lord on July 29, 2013. He was born in Elmira, NY on January 7,1947 the son of Walter Lawson and Wanda (nee) Pettengill Lawson Scott. He served his country with pride as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, which included three tours of duty in Vietnam. He received several medals for his service including, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Mast, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Rifle Marksman Badge, and the one he was most proud of, a Purple Heart for being wounded in Vietnam December 17,1967. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Janice Lawson and step-father William Scott. He is survived by brother's Victor (Deb) Lawson, Columbia Crossroads, PA, Walter Lawson Jr. of Addison, NY and Gene Scott of Oklahoma City, OK; sister, Janine (Dick) Adams, of Edmond ,OK; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Bath VA Hospital, Bath NY or the charity of your choice. Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira/Southport on Sunday August 4, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM with a Memorial Service there Sunday at 3:00 PM with final interment in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
