Pedalty, Scott J. age 66 of Pine City, NY. Passed away Sunday, January 11th, 2015 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Scott was the son of the late John W. and Ruth (Adams) Pedalty. Surviving is his beloved wife of 46 years Diane (Skorczewski) Pedalty; Children: Timothy Pedalty of Pine City, Andrew (Tammy) Pedalty of Elmira, Kathy (Nick) Becker of Pine City; 6 grandchildren: Jessica, Ashley, Katie, Scotty, Alexis, and Mikey; Sister: Carol Lou Shaylor of Ashland, NY. Along with several nieces and nephews. Scott was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved Family and friend time, traveling to Florida, taking cruises, and his lucky casino trips. He enjoyed area High School football games with his sons and grandchildren.He was a devoted correctional officer for the New York State Department of Corrections 31 years. Serving from 1971 in Attica directly following the uprising , he transferred to the Elmira Correctional Facility in 1972, where he worked until 1988. In 1988 he helped open the Southport Correctional Facility and worked until his retirement in May 2002. Scott was very instrumental in rebuilding and strengthening the Notre Dame Athletic Association and rebuilding Troop # 129 Cub Scout program through St. Mary’s Church.Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NYWednesday, January 14th, 2015 2:00PM to 4:00PM and again from 7:00PM to 9:00PM.Prayer services will be held there Thursday, January 15th at 9:15AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church at 10:00AM, graveside committal prayers will be offered in the St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery.
