Sheila K. Harrison65, of Horseheads, NY, died suddenly on February 25, 2014. Sheila was born in Elmira, NY, on September 15, 1948, daughter of Francis Kelly and Clara Oaks Smith (Schaeffler). She was predeceased by her loving husband of 31 years, Edward S. “Pete” Harrison. She is survived by her son, Brian T. Harrison; mother, Clara S. Schaeffler; brother, Kevin P. Kelly (Elaine); brother, Brian F. Kelly (Yvonna); brother, Dennis R. Kelly (Deborah); future daughter-in-law Caitlin E. Merrigan; and several nieces and nephews.Sheila was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy Class of 1966. She immediately entered the work force, excelling in handling finances for several area automobile dealerships. She then opted to stay home and raise their son for several years. She later took up her second career in tax preparation, working for several area companies, and finally working at the Law Firm of Sayles & Evans in Elmira. She was an avid fan of the Syracuse Orange and tirelessly worked on behalf of other deceased veteran’s spouses so that they could obtain service related death benefits for their loved ones.Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY on Sunday, March 2, 2014 from 2 to 5 PM. Funeral services will be held there Monday, March 3, 2014 at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, where she will join her husband in eternal rest.Donations in Sheila’s memory may be directed to any Veterans organization of choice or any cancer research charity of choice.
