Shirley A. Cafolla

Age 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born August 19, 1924 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Elias E. and Ruth (Berry) Schmick. Shirley married Joseph J. Cafolla Sr. April 13, 1945 in Newark, NY. Prior to his death September 26, 1982, they enjoyed 37 wonderful years of life and love together. Her daughter, Sylvia Weisel, 4 brothers and 1 sister also predeceased her. She is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Joseph J. and Jana Cafolla Jr. of Elmira, NY; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Edna Schmick of Horseheads, NY; granddaughter, Holly Weisel; grandson, A. J. Weisel; along with several nieces and nephews. For several years, Shirley was a dedicated and faithful secretary for the Small Business Administration of Elmira. She later was employed by the Elmira Star Gazette and worked in the add lay out department. Shirley was an avid reader and enjoyed writing. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Friday, July 9, 2004 from 12 to 2 PM. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held there at the conclusion of the visitation. (2:00 PM) the Reverend James Crupi will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Peter & Paul?s?
