Age 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31, 2006 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility with his loving family by his side. He was born December 23, 1917 in Greenwood, NY the son of the late John Sterling and Ella Mae (Rhinehart) Dennison. His son, Sterling ?Jack?, brothers, Kenneth and Burt, and sister Agnes, predeceased Sterling. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Mary (Sielski) Dennison; beloved children and their spouses: Barb and Todd Weber of Beaver Dams, Richard and Jan of Pine City, Frank and Linda of Horseheads, Jim and Kathy of Elmira, John and Sina of Lake Elsinore, CA; Mary and Jim Ernest of Horseheads and Pat and Bob Letson of Beaver Dams; daughter-in-law, Debbie Dennison of Rock Stream; sister, Marguerite Allen of Wellsville; along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Sterling proudly served in the United States Marine Corp with the 2nd Marine Division during WW II. He retired from the Local Carpenter?s Union # 281 in Elmira. In his earlier years, Sterling?s hobbies included fishing, hunting and trapping and later in life spent many hours tending to his beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. Subsequent to cremation at the Southport Crematorium, a Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday on April 5, 2006 at the Community Wesleyan Church 2095 Grand Central Ave. Horseheads, NY with Reverend James Swanson celebrating Sterling?s service at 1:00 PM. A family burial will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the 6th floor staff of the Chemung County Nursing Facility for the wonderful care, kindness and consideration extended to Sterling and his family during this difficult time.
