Thomas William â??Big Tom�? Wendela

Age 57 of Elmira, NY passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 11, 2003 at home.Tom was predeceased by his father, Eino J. Wendela; his nieces, Angela and Tricia; and a special cousin, Richard Heffron.Tom is survived by his son, Thomas W. Wendela, Jr.; his mother, Nellie Wendela; sisters, Betty Doane and Jane Seymour; all of Elmira; sister, Lillian (Daniel) Kennedy of Enterprise, AL; brothers, Allen (Tina) Wendela and Keith Wendela; both of Elmira; sister, Connie (Raymond) Shadduck and brother, John Colunio; both of Elmira; friend and former wife, Dorene Hill; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.Tom retired from the Elmira Psychiatric Center, was a former employee of the American La France Co., a member of the Bentley American Legion Post #443 of Elmira, and an avid sports fan of baseball, NASCAR, and football.Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM.Funeral services will be held there on Wednesday, July 16, 20093 at 1 PM, with John Edwards officiating.
