Age 84, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at Chemung County Nursing Facility, Elmira.He was born on November 5, 1921 to the late Thomas L. & Margaret (Lewis) MacBlane.Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Geraldine Barchet MacBlane; children, Lorraine (David) LaDuke of N. Syracuse, NY, Eleanor (Gary) Manchester of Easton, PA, David (Lauren) MacBlane of Glenview, IL; 4 beloved grandchildren, Matthew & Michael Manchester, Ava & Anna Kate MacBlane; sisters, Marion Lamberson of Wellsboro, PA, Betty Jane (Thomas) Blanchard of Painesville, OH; several nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his brothers, Lewis and James MacBlane.Member of Christ United Methodist Church, had served on many church committees, served on the Elmira Housing Authority, board member for the Boy Scouts of America, member of the Penn Yan Loyal Order of Moose, member of the V.F.W. of Elmira, NY, the Elmira Elks Club, The Elmira Eagles, member and past president of the Elmira Lions Club, member of the National Restaurant Association, member of the National Republican Committee. He retired after 35 years of employment with S. M. Flickingers Inc. Life member of the Military Officers of America. He was a very active volunteer, loved to dance and was an avid golfer. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II serving with the 82nd Airborne Paratroopers. Tom was a true patriot, proud to serve his country and especially proud of his parachute jump on D-Day. He served his country for 31 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira on Sunday, April 30, 2006 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.Funeral services will be held in Christ United Methodist Church, 330 W. Church Street, Elmira on Monday, May 1, 2006 at 11:00 am with Rev. Theodore Richard and Rev. Dr. Fred S. Kelsey officiating.Graveside service with full Military Honors will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Cancer Society, 1316 College Ave., Elmira, NY 14901.
