Age 28,a lifelong member of the Gillett, PA community passed away at home Thursday morning December 16th, 2010 after an extended illness. Tom was born in Sayre, PA August 27th, 1982; the son ofDanny R. Austin of Horseheads, NY and Darlene (Whitmore) Austin of Gillett, PA. Surviving him are his parents and step parents Danny Austin (Kim Rockwell) of Horseheads, Darlene Austin (Jeff Kerrick) of Gillett; sister; Sabrina (Justin) Hall of Langley, VA; brother; Cory Austin of Horseheads; grandparents; Raymond and Betty Austin of Horseheads; aunts; Dianne (Kong) Gobrick of New Mexico, Rebecca (John) Kolanach of Dundee, Brenda (Bill) Murrell of Watkins Glen, NY; uncles; Jeff Rockwell and James (Robin) Rockwell all of Horseheads; step sister,Ashley Kerrick of Elmira; one niece; Gabrielle and one nephew; Christian; his fiancé Amie Patrick of East Greenbush, NY, step grandparents; James and Mary Rockwell of Horseheads along with numerous loving friends and extended family members. Tom was predeceased by his grandmother Irene (Roy) Owens. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY Tuesday, December 21st, 2010 from 10:00AM to 1:00PM. Funeral services celebrating the life of Thomas Earl Austin will be held at the conclusion the calling hours at 1:00PM. Rev. Josh Payne of the Victory Church in Troy, PA will be officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Woodlawn National Cemetery with full military honors accorded in his honor. Tom was an active duty NAVY veteran stationed on the USS Nimitzin San Diego, CA for the last 18 months, before becoming ill. He was a member of the 2001 class of Troy High School, was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved engines and cars of all kinds.A very special "Thank You" toForrest "Woody" Oldroyd, Christy, Brandi, and Tina; The Gillett Baptist Church, The Victory Church and Pastor Josh Payne for all your love, prayers, support, and care throughout the last few months.
