Thomas Robert Crusade

Thomas Robert Crusade Was born November 16, 1922 in Hazelton, PA the son of the late Oscar and Mary (Atallah) Crusade, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at the Bath VA Medical Center at the age of 93. His loving wife, Polly (Hunter) Crusade preceded him in death. His brother: Barger Crusade and sisters: Matilda Cerio, Sadie Rose and Helen Crusade also preceded him in death. Tom is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many friends. He was a Veteran of the US Army proudly serving his country during WW II in Northern Iceland. Mr. Crusade first worked at Remington Rand, then went on to work with his brother, Barger at Crusade and Smith and also worked at Valley Glass and Mirror. Tom then formed Crusade and Cerio with his nephew, Jim Cerio, retiring after several years of dedicated service. Tom was a lifelong member of the Millport Volunteer Fire Department, a Charter member at the Horseheads Elks BPOE Lodge # 2297 and a member of the Elmira Heights American Legion Post # 154. He was an excellent swimmer and high diver. He absolutely loved to golf, water ski, shoot craps, play blackjack, boating and enjoyed all of the Finger Lakes. Tom loved to travel, loved music, children and animals. He was great at telling stories and loved to socialize. His services will be held at a later date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA 2435 Route 352, Elmira, NY 14903.
