Timothy James Chatas

Was born December 4, 1934 in Frackville, PA the son of the late James and Mary (Lagasa) Chatas, passed away peacefully at his home after an extended illness on Thursday, March 20, 2014 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 79. His brother, Mitchell James Chatas preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Gene (Weldin); beloved children, Beth Westervelt of Elmira, NY; Christine (James) Frame also of Elmira; Timothy (Stephanie) Chatas II of Syracuse, NY; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Tyler & Logan; Alexander & Carter; Damon & Dominick; great grandchildren, Jakoby, Geonni & Adrian; along with many other extended family and friends. Timothy retired from the Purolator Company as a machinist after 35 years of dedicated service. After retiring he was a starter at the Mark Twain Golf Course and a hall monitor at Broadway Middle School. He was a former member of the Horseheads Elk Lodge B.P.O.E. # 2297 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Elmira. Family and friends are invited to gather at the North Presbyterian Church 921 College Avenue Elmira, NY on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. A Memorial Service honoring his life and celebrating his memory will follow the visitation at 4 PM. The Reverend Kathleen Waters will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the Robert Packer Hospital Vascular Unit 1 Guthrie Square Sayre, PA 18840 or to St. Joseph's Hospital Acute Rehab Department 555 St. Joseph's Blvd. Elmira, NY 14901.
