Urlee G. Darmstadt

Born November 10, 1952 in Corning, NY the daughter of Cecil R. and Averil M. (Allen) Carpenter passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2013 surrounded by her family. Her father, Cecil, preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 42 years, James L. Darmstadt; beloved daughters, Nicole (Ken) Thomas III of Caton, NY; Holly (Jay) Burns of Lincoln, DE; Brooke Darmstadt of Caton, NY; adored grandchildren, Sierra, Kaylyn and Lauren Thomas; Sophia and Jack Burns; mother, Averil of Corning, NY; sister, Joyce Preston of Corning, NY; brother, John Carpenter also of Corning, NY; sisters in-law, Donna (Gene) White of Pine City, NY; Kathie Darmstadt of Pine City, NY; Sally (Jeff) Dillon of Wellsburg, NY; brother in-law, Tom (Barb) Darmstadt of Caton, NY, along with several nieces and nephews. Urlee retired from American Express in Corning, NY after 35 years of dedicated service as a travel counselor. She was a member of the 500 card club with the local women of Caton for 40 years. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling, especially with James and her family as well as gardening, golf, euchre, softball, gambling and Bingo. Above all else, her girls and grandchildren meant the world to her. She was proud of them all and loved them dearly. A Celebration of Urlee's life will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the Caton United Methodist Church 11186 Hendy Hollow Road Corning, NY 14830. The Reverend Beth Bouwens will officiate. She will be laid to rest in the Caton Cemetery at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society Southern Tier Region 13 Beech Street Johnson City, NY 13790 in memory of Urlee. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY 14904.
