Vaughn A. Sherwood Age 70, was born October 13, 1946 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Kenneth and Edna (Bierwiler) Sherwood passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Elderwood at Waverly, NY. His brother, Robert "Bob" Sherwood preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Elaine (Evans) Sherwood; son and daughter-in-law, Adam Vaughn and Lindy Sherwood; grandchildren, whom he loved and adored, Alexis and Eleanor Sherwood and Kelsey Carapella; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Joann Sherwood; along with several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his pride and joy, golden retriever, "Olyvia." Vaughn played football for Elmira Free Academy and went on to play at Cortland State College Class of 1968. His nickname on that football team was "Tank,"he wore the number 66 and was actually being scouted by the New York Giants. He was a proud member of the Beta Phi Epsicon fraternal organization. Vaughn was a huge fan of the New York Giants and the New York Yankees. He never missed his 2 o'clock coffee at Light's Bakery where he would talk "business" with his friends. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira/Southport, NY on Thursday, March 2nd, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. A Memorial Service will follow the visitation at 4 pm. The Reverend John Cramer will officiate. Memorial donations may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
