Veronica Zahorian Reed Gernert A loved resident of WoodbrookAge 92 formerly of Spruce Street, Southport, NY. Passed away very unexpectedly Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Veronica was the daughter of the late Anthony and Katrina Misicko Zahorian. Her first husband Joseph Reed after 50 years of marriage, and her second husband Ralph Gernert predeceased her in 1996. Surviving Veronica is her daughters and sons in law: Martha (Stephen) Eastman of Raleigh, NC, and Florence (Gary) McNett of Stewart, FL.Her grandchildren: Jackie (Rick), Stephen (Jennifer), Joseph (Christy), Geoffrey (Brittini), Julie; great grandchildren: Rachel, Joshiah, Deborah, Grace, and Stephen; Devoted Sister: Julia Jones of Pine City, NY; many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. 8 other Zahorian siblings predeceased Veronica.Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY Saturday, February 7th, 2009 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM. Funeral and committal services will be held at the conclusion of the calling hours at 3:00PM. Veronica's own grandson Geoffrey McNett will conduct the funeral service. Interment will be private, at the convenience of the family at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira. Veronica was the most loving and caring mother that anyone could ever want. She found great pleasure in visiting with family and friends. She was very much a "Lady". She had a very friendly and approachable personality. Those whom where fortunate to have known Veronica, loved her. Veronica loved her Lord. She loved to entertain, and she would always give up anything if it meant someone else would receive. She played card with the best, and usually won. She cherished Laurie Sweeney, the staff and her many friends at Woodbrook. Her wonderful smile will always be missed. Those wishing please make memorials to the Diabetes Assoc., American Heart Assoc. or to the Activities department of Woodbrook.A heart felt "Thank You" to Laurie Sweeney, the staff and all the loving residents at Woodbrook for showing Veronica so much love.
