Virginia (Squires) Parker Daniels, born March 17, 1937 died May 14, 2015. She was a patient of St. Joseph's Skilled Nursing Floor following a stroke in Florida as a complication of open heart surgery. She is predeceased by parents, Bert H. and Bernice (Lawhead) Squires; husbands, Jay H. Parker and Edward C. Daniels; step-daughter, Jean (Parker) Hinchee; and step-son, Paul Daniels. Virginia was an elementary school teacher for 31 years at Hendy Avenue School in the Elmira City School District. She was a lifelong member and former officer at Central Christian Church on South Main Street. She was an active volunteer at Arnot Ogden Medical Center for many years, Meals on Wheels, Chamber of Commerce, and other community groups, such as the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She was a past president of the Alpha Rho Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma educational honor society. Virginia is survived by her foster son, Lawrence C. (Marie) Krause, and their three sons, as well as by a number of cousins of the Squires family. She enjoyed sixteen happy seasons with Edward in sunny Florida. Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with funeral and committal services at 1:00PM. Reverend Susan Husted will officiate.
