Of Southport, NY passed away at home on Tuesday, May 8, 2007.She was predeceased by her loving husband, William Bill McElroy in 1999.Virginia is survived by her children, Dian (Bill) Bargy of Ontario, NY, Charles (Dawn) D. McElroy ofElmira, NY, Vikki (Drew) L. Hammond of Ovid, NY; grandchildren, David McElroy, Dana Hammond, Rebecca Bargy, Jacob Bargy, Kathryn Hammond, Emily Bargy, Nicholas McElroy; sister, Carole Harrison; brothers, James Wheeler, Donald Wheeler, Jack Northrup.She retired from the Southport Town Hall where she was a Deputy Town Clerk and Historian.Virginia was a member of the Elmira Weslyan Church.Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 from 5 to 8 PM and also on Wednesday from 12 to 1 PM.Funeral services will be held there at 1:00 PM with Reverend Gary Mammerello and Reverend Ed Crandall officiating.Interment in Fitzsimmons Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made in Virginias name to Southern Tier Hospice and Palliative Care.Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.Those wishing may leave a Candle of Remembrance for the family in Obituaries at www.olthof.com.
