Walter J. Farrell

It is with profound sadness to share the passing of Walter J. Farrell III, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He left us on July 23, 2024 at the age of 69, surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home. He was one of the good guys of this world and will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Born in Binghamton, NY - son to the late Patricia and Dr. Walter Farrell - he settled in Horseheads, NY to start a family of his own. After a cherished 36 years of marriage he is survived by the love of his life, Tracey, and their children Austin, Luke, and Haleigh Farrell. He held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, Ava and Liam Farrell. Also surviving are his siblings David Farrell and Bonita, Steve and Susan Bellingham, Jim and Daniel Farrell, James and Sue Farrell, Elizabeth Farrell, Matthew and Susan Farrell, and his nieces and nephews.

Alongside a 42 year career at FedEx he filled his time with friends and family - whether a weekend at home, on Greek Peak ski slopes, at Genegantslet Lake, or cheering for his grandchildren on the sports fields. Walt was known for his kind smile, warm demeanor, welcoming spirit and big white beard!

We invite you to join us at Olthof Funeral Home to celebrate his life that ended far too soon. Calling hours will be held Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 from 10 AM to 12 PM, with service to follow. Interment will be held at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, NY.
