WanetaHelen Hamblin Burke-Age 89 She formerly lived at 4 Owen Hollow Road, Big Flats, New York . She also lived with her daughter Kahtybefore moving to the nursing home at St. Joseph’s Hospital3rd floor in Elmira NY. Angels guided her to heaven on Thursday October 11,2012.Waneta was born September 19,1923 in Brookfield,Pa.daughter of the late Paul and Maragret (Owen) HamblinShe married Daniel W. Burke on September15,1945 in Corning, New York,he predeceased her on July 4, 1990.Waneta is survived by her beloved daughters, Sharon (Ernesto) De LaOsaCruz of Elmira Heights,NYKathleen (Ronald) Orr of Wellsburg, NyEunice (William) Hagios of Horseheads,NY ,Lois Phillips of Cheyenne WY, and her very special daughterBillie Caroline Burke of Van Etten, NY grandchildren,-Steven (Lisa) DeLaOsaCruz and sons Marco and Liam of Marion, NY,Anita (Patrick) Lentz and their sons Zac, Devon,and Shawn of Horseheads,NYDavid (Dawn) DeLaOsaCruz and their children Bryce Hanah and Joe of Lacona, NY Charles (Tee JA’) Orr andthier children, Gavin and Nate of Elmira,NYDebra(Rocky)Orr –Thompson, and their children,Rocky Jr.Kayla (Geo) Thompson-Onnella, and Tylerof Pearland ,Texas , Robert (Desi) Orr and his daughter Brianna of Wellburg, NYAndrew (Celeste) Orr of Wellsburg, NY Rebecca (Jason) Fifield and sons Jacob and Emmett of Horseheads Mike Hagios of Horseheads NYHeather (Scott) Maxwell) and daughter Sydney Rose of Cheyenne, WY, Kayla Denlken and son Brayden, Stephanie King and her children Brianna Orr and Micheal King; great –great grandchildren Hailey Faith and Cayden Onella of Pearland, Texas; also survived by sisters, Donna Hugg and Anna Hungerford of York, South Carolina;sister-in-laws Bonnie Hamblin of Gains, Pa., Helen Hamblin of Addison ,N.Y. and Helen (John) Fairbrothersof Elmira, NY. She has numerous nieces and nephewswhom she was very fond of and enjoyed visiting with them.Along with her husband Daniel, Waneta is predeceased by her brothers and sister-in-law, Owen and Arlene Hamblin, Wilbur Hamblin, Clayton Hamblin, Bert Hamblin, Richard Hamblin, William Hamblin; sisters Ruth (Alton)Holland and Naomi Hamblin& Her beloved cat Frosty. Waneta loved the outdoors, and going to the Adirondack mountains with her family in her younger years. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens. She worked at Corning Glass Works Corning,NY, Westinghousein Bath, NY and the A&P Plant In Horseheads NY. Waneta made a lot of crochet afghansand Christmas tree skirts for her family.She traveled all over the United States including Nova Scotia, andtraveled abroad to Germany and Austria.She loved playing bingo every Thursday with the other resisdents .Every year she looked forward to helping decorate Christmas stocking for the troops overseas . The Family will receive friends at Olthof Funeral Home Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira/Southport on Monday October 15, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM with Funeral and Committal Service there Tuesday October 16, at 11:00 AM. Deacaon George Welch will officiate. Interment in Fairview Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. A very big thank you to the staff on A3 unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital for the great loving care you gaveour mom.You made her life at the end as best it could be.Some of you were veryspecial to her .
