William Sherman â??Bill�? Doran,

Age 69 of Elmira, NY, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2005 in St. Joseph?s Hospital.Bill was the son of the late William Sherman and Gladys Brown Doran, Sr., born in Elmira, NY on April 2, 1935.He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Marian H. Doran of Elmira; daughter, Sharon (George) Hendrix of Elmira; son, Donald (Anita) Brown of Horseheads; daughters, Kathleen (Ronald) Lohr of Monroe, OH and Wendy (Thomas) Watkins of Horseheads; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Kimble of Elmira; several in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his faithful canine companion, Bootsie.His daughter, Susan Doran and son, John Thomas Doran, predeceased Bill.He was a US Army veteran who served in Korea; a steward for the Teamsters Union; and a lifetime Rex Sox fan, but not a fan of Phil Rizzuto.An avid bowler, he set pins at Rossi Lanes; liked fishing, word puzzles, and playing euchre. Bill was a very humble, hard-working, family man, who loved his family and adored his wife and best friend, Marian.Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira, NY 14904 on Thursday, March 31, 2005 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 PM, with Funeral Services immediately following at 8 PM.Deacon George Welch will officiate.Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira at the convenience of the family.Memorial donations in Bill?s name may be made to the Chemung County ARC, 711 Sullivan St., Elmira, NY14901 or to St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, 555 E.
