Age 78, of Smith Street Elmira, NY passed away Saturday, May 24, 2003 peacefully at St. Joseph?s Hospital. He was born December 10, 1924 in Elmira, NY the son of the late Francis and Aleatha (Johnson) Gustin Sr. William married Virginia June Brubaker December 21, 1946. They have enjoyed 56 wonderful years of life and love together. His survivors include: loving wife, Virginia; beloved daughters, Susan (Elliott) Warner of Cary, NC; their children, Jennifer, Jason, Bryan, Todd and Elizabeth; Vicki (Ronald) Murphy of Shaftsbury, VT; their children, Ryan, Christopher and Eric; siblings, Delores (Chester) Layton of Horseheads, NY; Ronald Gustin of Brownsville, TX; Robert (Gudrun) Gustin of San Antonio, TX; Donna (Carl) Davis of Horseheads, NY; sister-in-law, Florence Gustin also of Horseheads, NY; along with several nieces, nephews and extended family. His parents, Francis and Aleatha, daughter, Carol Ann Gustin, brother, Francis Gustin Jr., infant brother, Morris Gustin, sisters, Arlene Simpkins and Dorothy Crowley, preceded him in death. ?Bill? as he was affectionately known, owned and operated Naglee Moving and Storage for many years. He was a Volunteer with the Elmira Heights Fire Department, past President of the Elmira Heights Rotary Club and had 60 years of continuous membership with the American Legion Clarence Oliver Post # 154 Elmira Heights, NY. ?Bill? was a Veteran of the US Army proudly serving his country from 1942-1943 during WW II. He was the Chairman of the Chemung County Department of Veterans Affairs Commission, member of the Pennsylvania Avenue United Methodist Church and was active in many community affairs. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Thursday, May 29, 2003 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held there Friday at 1:00 PM with ?Bill?s? family celebrating his life and honoring his memory. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery where the Chemung County Veterans Honor Squad will accord Mr. Gustin full Military Honors.
