William "Bill" Byron Wales

William “Bill” Wales III, 73, of Elmira, NY went home to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, his birthday, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and William Wales Jr.; and brother, David Wales. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Lonna Wales; children, Jodie (Keith) Seager, Sherry (Matthew) Hurst, Billie-Jo (Shawn) Austin, William (Lorrie) Wales IV, Catherine (John) Cole, Patrick (Sue) Johnson and Shaun Johnson; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann, Florine, Robin and Ellen; and brother, Terry Wales. Bill loved the Lord with his heart and soul. He was an outdoorsman and an avid hunter, who was very proud of taking his 230th turkey last fall. He loved to fish at Lamoka Lake. He served in the US Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. Bill was a loving husband, father and friend who will be dearly missed. A special thank you to the Falck Cancer Center and CareFirst for all their dedicated care. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 4 PM to 6 PM with a memorial service celebrating Bill’s life to follow at 6 PM at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, where he will receive full military honors.
