Age 71 of Millerton, PA passed away on October 16, 2007. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Joy Thomas; and their children; Diane (Brad) Lines, William R. (Maria) Thomas, Jr. Darrell (Bonnie) Thomas, Karen Paro, Michael (Dawn) Thomas; brother; Ronald (Lorraine) Thomas. 10 Grandchildren, 2 Step-grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, niece, nephew and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; Russell and Louise Thomas and a daughter, Janet. Bill was a devoted family man and was an active volunteer. He was named Boy of the Year in 1952. Bill was a 50 year member of the American Red Cross and was Volunteer of the Year in 1991. As a 52-year member of the Boy Scouts of America he earned numerous awards such as the Bronze Statuette, Wood Badge 3 beads, Order of the Arrow Vigil and the Silver Beaver. He was a key member in developing the first EMT Rescue Squad in Millerton, PA and member of the fire department. Bill was also an Airmen 2nd class during his brief tour in the Air Force. He was formerly employed by Hilliard Corporation. He loved bowling, hunting, camping and making Christmas cookies. Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. on Friday October 19, 2007 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM with Funeral Service there Saturday at 11:30 AM. The Reverend Dr. Betsey Crimmins will officiate. Interment will follow in Jackson Center Cemetery with Military Honors accorded at the grave.
