Winifred Helen Schmitt

Age 92, passed away Monday, August 16, 2004 peacefully at the Bethany Manor where she most recently resided. She was born March 27, 1912 in Elmira, the daughter of the late William and Florence (Shoemaker) Pedrick. Winifred was predeceased by her husband, Samuel Schmitt in 1959; daughter, Dolorse Blaker in 1992; son, Duane Schmitt in 2000; granddaughter, Deborah Richards in 1980. She is survived by her loving daughters, Barbara Richards of Erin, NY; Patricia (Arlene) Quackenbush of Sinclarville, NY; daughter-in-law, Joyce Schmitt of Illinois; ex-daughter-in-law, Marjorie Farr Johns also of Illinois; brother, William (Lela) Pedrick of Elmira, NY; close friend, Phyllis Judson of Erin, NY; along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her extended family at the Bethany Manor in Horseheads, NY. Winifred retired as a bus driver for the Horseheads School District after several years of dedicated service. She was a founding member of the Southport Historical Society. Family and friends are invited to call at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave. Elmira, NY on Saturday, August 28, 2004 from 2 to 4 PM. Her Funeral Service will follow the visitation. (4:00 PM) The Reverend Mari Rockwell will officiate. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family in the Rural Home Cemetery, Big Flats, NY.
