Winifred S. Strong

Was born May 16, 1916 in Campbell, NY the daughter of the late Paul A. and Louise (Platt) Smith passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Elcor Health Services at the age of 94. Her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Richard J. Strong predeceased her on March 28, 1999. Her brother, Paul Smith and brother-in-law, DeRoy Putman also preceded her in death. She is survived by her beloved sister, Elizabeth Putman of Horseheads, NY; niece, Gretchen (Clairmont) Ham of Pine City, NY; along with several nieces and nephews. In 1934 Winifred graduated from Wellsboro High School and then graduated from the Elmira Business Institute. For 10 years she was a faithful employee of WJ, ER & Young Lumber Company working as their dedicated bookkeeper. Winifred was an avid reader and crocheted wonderful items for her family and friends, especially her comfortable afghans. At her request there will be no prior calling hours. Interment will take place privately at the convince of her family in the Woodlawn National Cemetery.
