Age 89, of South Bend Indiana, passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 6, 2004 at his home. He was born March 20, 1915 in Milton, PA, the son of the late Mary Elizabeth (Elliott) and C. Paul Hood. His sisters, Dorothy and Betty Jane Hood, also preceded him in death. On October 5, 1940 in the Grace Episcopal Church, Elmira, NY, he married Beatrice Irene Getkin. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Bea; along with his daughter, Nancy Paddock of Horseheads, NY; his son, Warren ?Rusty? (Joan) Hood of Macungie, PA; five grandchildren, Michael, Jeffrey and Tracy Hood; R. Daniel (Dr. Sarah) and Marianna Paddock; great grandson, Anthony Batrowny; brother-in-law, Earl (Polly) Getkin; niece, Carolyn (Frank) Donahue all of Burlington, VT. After graduating from Southside High School in Elmira, Elliott was a Mechanical Engineer at the Bendix Corp. in Elmira Heights, NY and South Bend, IN holding fifty-four patents on bicycle braking systems and starter drives. Starting in his teens, Elliott was an Amateur Radio Operator (W2PVG & NE91). He was a strong supporter of his son?s baseball talents and was co-founder of the West Elmira Little League and the Babe Ruth Baseball Leagues in Elmira. After retirement he enjoyed ?hamming?, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes. For the past 30 years he has lived in South Bend, IN. Family and friends are invited to attend Graveside Services on Friday, August 13, 2004 at 2:00 PM at the family plot in Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY. John P. Knapp will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of E.
