Sallyanne Eckess McLean age 59 of Corning, NY passed to her Heavenly home on June 19, 2016 at Corning Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Sally was born on July 20, 1956 in Canberra, Australia. She was the daughter of the late Eric Anthony Burton and Sally Eckess Kirby. Surviving are her aunt Katherine Anne Howland of Corning, NY; step-mother Nancy Kirby Kurjakovic of Corning, NY; brothers Eric Kirby Jr. (Elaine) of Brooksville, FL, Jameson Kirby of Bainbridge Island, Washington, and Michael Howland of Greenville, SC; children: Eliza Booth (Michael) of Lancaster, PA, James McLean (Melissa) of Warren, PA, and Jonathan McLean of Philadelphia, PA; close family friend Diane Doebler of Corning, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Her true joy in life was her two grandsons: Kordell Booth and Joshua McLean. Sallyanne, a native of Australia, moved to Corning at an early age with her family. She graduated from Eastern Mennonite University with a Bachelor's of Science in Education. Throughout her career she taught for many years, including cherished time teaching at the Hopi Mission School in Arizona. Her devotion to friends and family and her zest for life will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her grandchildren will cherish the joy and fun that she brought to their lives. Sally lived her life full of love and compassion for all and instilled that love in all whose lives she touched. She loved life, family, the outdoors, wildlife and above all, to help others. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Community Mennonite Fellowship, 290 Park Ave., Corning, NY on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 7:00 PM to celebrate Sallyanne's life. Duane H.
