GOING BACK IN TIME

Our History

We have years of experience caring for families, from all walks of life.

Each family comes to us because they know we are leaders in our profession, dedicated to excellence in service, and have the highest integrity.

Olthof Funeral Home was started in 1946 by Robert L. and Louise Smith Olthof. When they first started, Robert worked at other area funeral homes, and Louise taught kindergarten at the Pennsylvania Avenue School. Robert Leon Olthof, their son, assumed the Licensed Manager position around 1965, when his father became ill. In 1991, Rob Olthof became the third-generation to manage the funeral home when he assumed the role after his father's untimely death. He carried on the family's tradition of greatness for many decades. In 2018, he made the decision to join Rollings Funeral Service, and stayed on as a regional manager in that organization for many years. In 2024, after 33 years of dedicated service, Rob made the decision to retire, knowing that his beloved family legacy was in good hands with his chosen successor, Adrienne Barrows, a first-generation funeral director dedicated to maintaining the highest level of service that Olthof has become known for.

Over the years, the size of the facility has grown as the business has prospered. Beginning with the first addition in 1950, then the second in 1955 and throughout the following years, the Olthof family has purchased various properties surrounding the funeral home for future expansion. In 1980, the final expansion was completed, which enabled Olthof Funeral Home to handle multiple calling hours and funerals at one time. The facility also has a parking lot with spots available for 100 vehicles. In 2025, Olthof added in a reception room for families who want to incorporate a meal gathering or respite room into their services.

For over 75 years, Olthof Funeral Home has served families of all faiths in both New York and Pennsylvania.
