Adrienne Barrows

Licensed Funeral Director and Location Manager

Adrienne is a native of Baton Rouge, LA, and is a 2005 graduate of Louisiana State University, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy with a concentration in Religious Studies. In addition to an academic background in the major world religions and biblical exegesis, she also focused her studies on contemplative traditions, religious expression of attachment patterns, and the question of theodicy.

After graduation, she spent many years as a part of the management of an independent bookstore that served the LSU community, where she focused on copyright permissions, curriculum development, and community outreach. This blended well with her other volunteer efforts, which centered on coalition building and small group facilitation within her church and the larger civic and faith communities.

In 2015, she felt her calling and returned to school to pursue funeral service. She is a 2017 Chancellor’s Honors graduate from Delgado Community College in New Orleans, LA where she graduated summa cum laude with an Associate in Applied Science in Funeral Service Education. She dedicated her early career to working with independent, family-owned funeral homes, and served at a number of prestigious firms in both Louisiana, as well as in southern coastal Maine.

In addition to the duties of a funeral director and embalmer, she enjoys leading various community workshops, programs, and special events centered on death acceptance, consumer education, and community responses to grief and loss. This professional experience, coupled with her natural servant leadership style, made her a perfect fit to help lead the Olthof team to better serve our community.

She and her husband Brandon have happily settled in Southport, joined by their college-age daughter Amelia "Rhea" Zetty, Adrienne’s mother Brenda Boyd, and their cadre of pets.

Robert L. Olthof

Retired Owner, Licensed Manager and Funeral Director

Rob was the third-generation licensed funeral director of Olthof Funeral Home. Born and raised in the family business, he used his compassion and experience to keep families at ease at their most delicate time. After his father unexpectedly passed in 1991, Rob took over the business and helped to honor memories for others for many decades after.

In 1990, he graduated from Life Appreciation Training, and in 1991 from SUNY Canton. He is a member of Union-Cooley Masonic Lodge #95 and Kalurah Shrine since 2001, where he helped transport children in need of medical care to Shriner's Hospitals throughout the Northeast. He loves being a father to his two daughters, Lucianne and Seneca. Rob is proud to be married to his loving wife, Keitha Duran, who is a veterinarian at Broadway Animal Hospital. Now enjoying the free time that comes with retirement, he is often found on the water with his family, on top of a tractor or excavator, or running his many dogs.
